Medical and health certificates

Swedish legislation includes many requirements for medical certificates. Sickness certificates are provided for in the Sick Pay Act and in collective agreements. The Swedish Work Environment Authority regulates fitness for duty certificates and medical checks. Provisions on certificates in connection with transportation are available from the Swedish Transport Agency.

All medical certificates require a medical examination. Often combined with X-rays, spirometry, blood tests or other medical analyses. Physical medical examinations are often carried out at the workplace to minimize loss of production. Medical analyses are carried out at one of over 1300 clinics across Sweden.

We issue all necessary medical certificates to employers throughout Sweden. Whether it is the mandatory certificate of fitness for work needed to perform work with thermosetting plastics, asbestos, lead, cadmium, climbing, smoke diving, chemical diving or diving in water. Or first day certificates in case of illness.

We also provide medical checks which are voluntary for the person being examined but which an employer must offer in the case of work with an increased health risk. For example, when working in noise, with a risk of infection, at a monitor, with vibrations, at night or with allergenic products.

In addition to statutory medical checks, we also carry out collectively agreed medical checks and annual checks to meet the Swedish Work Environment Authority's requirements for systematic work environment management.
